Education is under attack. Colleen Sheehan presented an information session to 45 C-RTA members about the politically motivated attack on the due process rights of educators. She reminded us that:
-
NYS has some of the most rigorous teaching standards
-
NYS has the most credentialed, most effective teachers in the nation
-
due process protects good teachers from attack
-
most cases against teachers are ruled on in 5 months
-
when replying to questions about tenure and due process:
-
keep it positive, don't repeat the negative
-
remember that tenure allows teachers to do what is right for students
-
tell a personal story
-
Please, help spread the word through social media. We are fighting big money, but we have the passion and the best interest of students and the future of education in mind. Keep up to date with this important issue. NYSUT has motioned to intervene in Wright v. New York and expects to have the court rule in its favor.
